Thomas Muller has revealed he had a “little problem” after his bicycle kick last time out, but it is not a cause for concern.
Bayern Munich beat Heidenheim 4-2 at home in the Bundesliga on Saturday, taking their tally to 33 points from 13 games.
Bayern Munich completely dominated Heidenheim and scored four goals on top of that to ensure no points for the visiting side. However, errors allowed the away team to nab two goals, which drew the ire of Bayern player Thomas Müller:
“We played a very good first half, but the result was only 1-0. That’s a point of criticism, we created chances, but we weren’t efficient,” Müller said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “In tight games that makes the difference. We played well [against Leverkusen] on Tuesday, we wanted to be back on track today and play another good game. We had problems in the last 20 minutes today, but overall, it was a good performance.”
“My bicycle kick was not that good, my muscles were a bit stiff and I couldn’t move after the break, but it wasn’t too bad,” the German forward said.
“I don’t think it was the stupidest thing to make way for Jamal (Musiala came on in the 51st minute) because at the end of the day the most important thing is that the team won today.
“If you want to find something to criticise, it would be that we were 1-0 up at half-time and didn’t take our chances well enough, which is something we have to do better in the next game.”
The Bavarians’ next game is against Promotion ufabet Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. Followed by a trip to Mainz and a clash with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
